Fashion of the Future- African Inspired pt.2
I am the first generation in my family born in America. Being from New York, I saw a lot in fashion. As a child; I didn't understand why my mother and aunties didn't dress like everyone else. Mother always tried to dress me in African print clothing............I was so against it unless we were at a wedding or one of our many cultural events.....needless to say, this tomboy was on punishment....A LOT. Now as a woman being from New York, and now understanding fashion, and what some of these prints mean to my family & my culture I have different outlook. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE AFRICAN PRINT! I have been given a great opportunity to work with an African Designer in the fall. I'm super excited! Your hardly ever see any African Designers in fashion; at least not too many in the USA. Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2011, had a few talented African Designers but NOT ENOUGH! I have posted a link to a few to a youtube video with looks that I LOVE! I HOPE YOU LOVE THEM TOO!
