NEW YORK VIXEN'S TOP 5 STEPS TO STARTING A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS

I have been asked time and time again; "How are you building your business in a city you are new to?" In this post I will not divulge all my secrets but I will give you the basics to get you  started. Most of it is common sense, however we all know that  common sense isn't that common for some folks. I feel we all need to set goals for our business, and the things we want to achieve. You can achieve these goals without being underhand or cutting anyone's throat. A good business visionary is able do this. I have have worked for/with people who have done this. I NEVER HAVE AND I NEVER WILL! I am a firm believer in Karma. I have also worked for people who thought the new more about this industry than I did. I don't proclaim to know everything, but I am well traveled and know enough about my field; that no one can bamboozle me. I don't allow people to dictate how I run my operation. I also don't allow people to tell me what they think I should be doing. It's your business, so you can take constructive criticism  but never allow anyone to degrade your vision. Once you have felt like someone has, take 2 steps back breathe, and let it go. TRUST THIS HAS NEVER BEEN THE EASY PART FOR ME. This is not the type of person you need in your circle. Unfortunately, these people come in the disguise of family members, friends, and foes. I say all this to say, just be aware of your environment and the people around you. I hope my tips can help you in some form or fashion.  If you have any questions please don't be afraid to ask. Here are my tips!!

NEW YORK VIXEN'S 5 STEPS TO STARTING A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS:

1.NETWORKING:
Always have your business cards. Send a follow-up email to every business card you receive.

2.HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR BUSINESS?
Learn what your strengths and weakness are, then educate your self on making them better.

3.FOLLOW OTHER PROFESSIONALS IN YOUR FIELD:
Do you follow other successful people? Compare what they do, to what you do. How they deal with criticism, look at their techniques; how is it different from yours? In doing this you can most times find flaws in you plan, or the things that need to be re-tweaked.

4. I'M SCARED TO GO OFF ON MY OWN: "THE FEAR OF FAILURE."
Stepping out on faith, is the hardest step for most of us. Believe me I know! You have responsibilities that need your attention and can't afford for you to mess up. Therefore, step out with a plan. There are 26 letters to the alphabet so you have 25 more tries. If plan A fails, but YOU MUST HAVE FAITH FIRST that it will work. Here are some quick tips:

  • Create a vision board (magazine clippings)
  • Social networking (Twitter,Facebook,Pintrest,Tumblr)
  • Marketing (Get a website, blog)
  • Create a journal of things that will get you closer to your goal.
5. GIVING BACK:
Donating your time to help others will always be a great asset to you and your business. Show the younger generation that people will always need help and that it starts at home.( Cancer Charities, Goodwill, Salvation Army etc.) Any charity you believe in, is a good way to start. Besides you'll ever know who you will meet, that may inspire you to do something bigger.
